I have been working with Visit Sunshine Coast Business Events team for six months now and stepping into my new role as Business Events Coordinator, I had the privilege of experiencing my very first Famil on the Sunshine Coast—not as an attendee this time, but as a host!
Having attended plenty of Famil’s in my corporate event buyer days across the country, I thought I knew what to expect. But being on the other side of the experience? That was a whole new level of energy, detail, and excitement. The team worked tirelessly to deliver an outstanding Famil which was nothing short of exceptional.
Across four sparkling days, we were treated to a showcase that captured the true essence of the Sunshine Coast. From breathtaking coastal icons to the charm of our hinterland hideaways, every stop highlighted why our region is such a unique and inspiring choice for conferences, incentives, and business events.
What struck me most wasn’t just the beauty of the venues or the creativity of the itineraries, but the meticulous coordination behind the scenes. The dedication and passion from the Visit Sunshine Coast Business Events team (Ali Thompson and Beth Mahoney) and our local operators ensured every moment ran seamlessly. It gave me an entirely new appreciation for the work involved in curating an experience that not only impresses but inspires.
And inspire it did! I was left with more than just memories—I made genuine connections with the attendees and we all walked away with a clear confidence in the Sunshine Coast as a must see destination for business event attendees.
The warmth and professionalism of our local partners shone through. For me personally, this Famil was a turning point. Hosting at this level reminded me why our region truly stands out: it’s not just about stunning backdrops, but about the people, the energy, and the sense of possibility that comes with every event.
If this was my first Famil as a Business Events coordinator, I can’t wait for what’s next!
